"Independence is not a state which can be won and then taken for granted"

For more than one hundred and eighty years the people of the United States have set aside the fourth day of July to commemorate the adoption of the Declaration of Independence. They realize that this Declaration affirms their God-given rights, and they recognize their indebtedness to the patriots who so bravely asserted their independence from the mother country.
