Note: Christian Science churches are dedicated only when free from debt.

Sparta, New Jersey (First Church).

The dedication services of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Sparta, New Jersey, will be held this Sunday, November 9, at 11 a.m. and at 3.30 p.m. The regular Sunday service will be augmented by the reading of a brief dedicatory message including a history of the local church.

The Sparta congregation had its beginning on January 7, 1945, when a small group of Christian Scientists in the county began to hold informal services in their homes. On April 20 of the same year a meeting was held to organize a Christian Science Society, and in May a store was rented in which to hold regular services. On August 2 the group was recognized by The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, as Christian Science Society, Sparta, New Jersey; and on August 29 the first lecture on Christian Science was given in Sussex County.
