Successful Reading Room Activity

Our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, makes it clear in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 254), that it is the spiritual which determines the outward and actual. The application of spiritual understanding underlies and ensures successful activity in church work.

Correspondence in our Reading Room Division bears witness to this fact. A librarian writes:

"The frequently quoted passage of our Leader found in the textbook (p. 570) is always fresh and inspiring to the individual who sees in its message the promise of fulfillment: 'Millions of unprejudiced minds—simple seekers for Truth, weary wanderers, athirst in the desert—are waiting and watching for rest and drink. Give them a cup of cold water in Christ's name, and never fear the consequences.' The admonition and reassurance contained in these words implemented our hope to hold open house in our Christian Science Reading Room.
