FAIR WEATHER

In Christian Science we learn that the condition of the weather or climate is not determined by atmospheric pressure, temperature, or precipitation, but by human behavior and thought. The destructive elements of storms or abnormal extremes are attributable to the collective material thinking of mankind. The atmosphere of mortal thought directly affects the weather.

Christ Jesus, because of his spiritual nature, possessed a penetrating insight into all modes of human thought. He taught that harmony is divinely natural and that, through the utilization of the power of God, men actually have control over every form of inharmony, be it pain, death, storm, or hatred. The Master knew that matter is error, contrary to God, good, and therefore that it can be controlled by the exercise of spiritual power.

He demonstrated this understanding in stilling the storm, feeding a multitude, supplying needed tax money, healing the sick, reforming the sinner, and raising the dead. No discordant condition could withstand the power of his transcendent God-derived goodness. The spiritual atmosphere which permeated his every thought encompassed his words and deeds.
