RADIO PROGRAM No. 186 - How Obedience to God Brings Divine Guidance

Speaker: The daily need for direction and guidance can be met if we are obedient to God, if we understand and trust His ever-present care. Our guest's experience illustrates this fact. I'd like you to know Morris Michael Marks, who's in the practice of law in Philadelphia. Tell us first how your interst in Christian Science began, Mr. Marks.

Mr. Marks: Well, you might say it started with a question. While I was attending high school, I searched for the answer to the question, "What is God?" Then one day I saw a book on my brother's desk. The title aroused my interest—"Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy.

I leafed through the book until I came to a chapter which was made up of questions and answers, and the very first question was (p. 465), "What is God?" I was astounded to find that here was an author who was sure enough of her ground to give an answer in black and white to the question which had puzzled me, "What is God?" God was explained as infinite Mind and divine Love, in fact, seven different synonyms were used to show more of the nature of God. For the first time in my life I found an explanation of God that made sense to me. So that was the begnning of my study of Christian Science.
