I am glad of the opportunity...

I am glad of the opportunity to set down a few facts in behalf of Christian Science.

When our daughter was fifteen months old, she became seriously ill with pneumonia. The doctor, after his third trip to our home that day, held no hope for the child's recovery. My wife then looked for and found the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy, which she had purchased in her early teens while attending the Christian Science Sunday School with a friend.

With the very first words of the Preface (p. vii), "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings," my wife began to see the light of Truth. She decided that she would put her complete trust in God, knowing that in that very instant God's power and presence were sufficient for the child's need. She then called a Christian Science practitioner for help and also left word that the doctor was not to come back unless summoned. My wife continued to read through the night hours, and the baby fell into a deep, restful sleep. When the baby awakened, my wife gave her a bath, which the child enjoyed to the fullest, for all trace of the disease had gone.
