BERWYN, PENNSYLVANIA (First Church).

First Church of Christ, Scientist, Berwyn, will hold special dedication services on Sunday, October 7, 1956. This date will be the third anniversary of the church's first service in the chapel purchased from the Great Valley Baptist Church. . . .

The group of Christian Scientists of the Main Line who organized this church held the first meeting for this purpose in December, 1942. Facilities were rented from the Saturday Club of Wayne, and the first service was held in the club– house on West Wayne Avenue on January 17, 1943. Sunday services, Sunday School, and Wednesday evening testimony meetings were held on these premises for about ten years. . . .

In the spring of 1953 the present edifice in Berwyn was purchased. After extensive remodeling the first service was held on October 4. The Reading Room maintained by the church was opened to the community in a ground–floor location on East Lincoln Highway, Berwyn, on January 4, 1954.
