I was a young girl when my parents first became interested in Christian Science, and I accepted its teachings at once in a simple, childlike way, gladly availing myself of the privilege of attending the Sunday School of the local Christian Science Society. About this time, through contemplating the Bible story of the woman who was healed when she pressed through the crowd and touched the hem of Jesus' robe (see Matthew 9), I was healed of a kidney condition which had held me in bondage for several years. I gratefully realized that after pressing through the crowd of mortal beliefs and medical laws to receive and understand the Master's teachings, I had touched the hem of the healing robe of Christ, Truth. My childlike trust had been rewarded with an immediate and complete healing.

I remember the joy with which I became a member of The Mother Church and later of a branch church. I am continually grateful for the lessons learned and for the opportunities given me for growth in grace through participation in church activities, as well as through the great privilege of class instruction and the annual association meetings.

Another and more recent healing which stands out to me was one which I experienced at a time of extreme pain. The symptoms were those of acute appendicitis. I was unable to reach the practitioner to whom I had turned for help from time to time. Realizing that the situation was critical and needed to be met immediately, I reached out to God for inspiration. I began to see that in order to exist as a reality this condition would have to be part of God's creation. Knowing this to be impossible, I saw that the difficulty could not in reality exist. Then the divine fact of God's allness and the consequent impossibility of anything existing apart from Him became so clear to me that I was instantly free from all pain.
