STANDING UNDISTURBED

Mary Baker Eddy writes (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 306), "Undisturbed amid the jarring testimony of the material senses, Science, still enthroned, is unfolding to mortals the immutable, harmonious, divine Principle,—is unfolding Life and the universe, ever present and eternal."

If we would stand undisturbed, we must recognize the great truth that God, divine Principle, is All-in-all, the only presence, cause, or power; that He is omniaction. We must also recognize that man is God's witness. Man is because God is; he exists at the standpoint of perfection.

Christian Science reveals these truths of God and man. Yet in human experience we seem to be confronted on every side with their exact opposites. Newspapers, magazines, television, radio, advertising of various sorts, are frequently presenting the false concept of man, representing him as being at the mercy and whim of all kinds of evil circumstances over which he seldom has control. Instead of being represented as spiritual, reflecting perfection, man is portrayed as material and imperfect, as miserable much of the time, lacking in the good things of life. But the truth is that man is the complete and satisfied expression of God's affluence, immune from any claim of error.
