Inspiration, Unfoldment, and Demonstration Make Possible Their Growth and Progress

Walla walla, Washington

In January, 1954, a committee was appointed to redecorate our Reading Room. In addition to the references which they used as a basis for their metaphysical work in Christian Science, the committee studied the booklet sent out by The Mother Church called "Branch Church Building," which includes recommendations for Christian Science Reading Rooms. We sincerely desired to comply with them as nearly as possible. In order to do this we felt we must do more than redecorate. We must find a new location since our present quarters definitely did not "measure up." One was soon found on the street level with ample space which we could divide as we desired. It also had two large display windows. The building was owned by the local college, which was happy to have us as tenants, and an offer was made to remodel and decorate to meet our needs.

When this information was taken to the membership for consideration, they voted unanimously to move to the new location. This oneness of Mind, this unity of thought, and a willingness to work together characterized the whole experience, which culminated in a complete and beautiful demonstration. Throughout the work we kept knowing that "except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it" (Ps. 127:1); that this activity was a part of church building and was, in fact, an open door to our church in the community; and that divine Love was directing and providing every step of the way.
