"STRETCH FORTH THINE HAND"

"And , behold, there was a man which had his hand withered. ... Then saith [Jesus] to the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it forth; and it was restored whole, like as the other" (Matt. 12:10, 13). Such healing as this which was performed by Christ Jesus is possible to all mankind today through the understanding of Christian Science. Mary Baker Eddy assures us in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 459), "To mortal sense Christian Science seems abstract, but the process is simple and the results are sure if the Science is understood."

The Bible, the authority upon which Christian Science is based, states that God made everything that was made, and He saw it was very good; that God is Love, Spirit; and that He made man in His image and likeness. Reasoning from these premises, it must be seen that man, too, is good and perfect —spiritual, not material.

Because God is omnipotent there can be no other power. There is nothing to create evil, the opposite of good. Anything which is not perfect, no matter how insignificant or how overwhelming it may seem to be, must be without reality; for it is without a creator. Having no creator, it is nothing and must be seen as nothing. A correct understanding of man heals all diseases, sins, and erroneous beliefs, whether they be of lack, inharmonious surroundings, or other discordant conditions. Like the man whom Jesus healed, we must be willing to stretch forth our hands and accept as ours the bounty of perfection which God has given us.
