THE PERFECT BALANCE OF THE PERFECT MIND

A Perfect balance is maintained by the perfect Mind. This is logical, natural, and demonstrable. We cannot entertain the belief that God, the perfect Principle which governs the universe, could be expressed in an unbalanced economy, a maladjusted mentality, or a deformity of any description. Mary Baker Eddy writes in the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 239), "The perfect Mind sends forth perfection, for God is Mind."

Conformity to the will of God instead of the pursuit of self-will or selfishness is a remedy for maladjustment. The perfect balance of perfect Mind is reflected by perfect man, the man of God's creating. Mortals are scarcely conscious of this perfect man until spiritual sense informs them of a higher concept of manhood than that to which the material senses testify.

By the cultivation of spiritual understanding we begin to accept and demonstrate a higher concept of man. Spiritual qualities such as honesty, purity, faith, hope, and compassion come to light, replacing physicality, animality, and the pursuit of sensual pleasures. Thus to obtain and retain a better balanced view of life, we must exchange the material sense of existence for the spiritual until honesty of purpose in the pursuit of righteousness is seen to produce a natural adjustment which self-will, self-love, and self-justification could never obtain.
