Cliffside Park, New Jersey (First Church).

Members of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Cliffside Park, will formally dedicate their church building at 16 Crescent Avenue on Sunday, April 18.

The church group was organized in 1927 as Christian Science Society, Grantwood. In April, 1928, the name was changed to First Church of Christ, Scientist, Grantwood, and the church was incorporated. On February 3, 1954, the name was changed again to First Church of Christ, Scientist, Cliffside Park.

The congregation met in Carney Hall, Columbia Avenue at the trolley line, until the present property, consisting of a house and four lots, was purchased in 1931.

Extensive alterations were made to the building to provide for an auditorium, Readers' rooms, cloakroom, and board room on the main floor. The Sunday School room, salesroom, and Reading Room were arranged on the second floor.

Final payment of all debts was made possible by generous contributions from the other Christian Science churches in Bergen County and a substantial grant from the Trustees under the Will of Mary Baker Eddy.
