I have witnessed and experienced so many fine healings through the application of Christian Science that they are almost too many to enumerate. Appendicitis was healed in one treatment after I called a practitioner for help. Twenty-four hours later I was out horseback riding, although I had previously been struggling with great pain. A severe case of water on the knee was quickly healed, and migraine, which used to render me unconscious, was entirely overcome.

On a certain Tuesday a fever began to develop, and by the next morning I was in distress with a throat irritation. During the day talking became increasingly difficult. My apprehension was great, for I was to make a speech on Thursday night before the most important group I had ever addressed. I called a practitioner in a distant city, and she said, "No evil thinking has the power to choke the truth you are going to express." This thought helped to relieve the pain, but as the day progressed I found that I could scarcely speak.

On Thursday night, just before I was to make my address, I could not speak above a whisper. However, the practitioner had told me to cling to the truth, and this I did. The senator who was to introduce me asked me as he rose if I could talk, and I replied in a hoarse whisper, "I know I can." I rose and stepped to the microphone. When I opened my mouth, my voice went over the public address system with greater clarity and beauty than it ever had before. I had all the poise necessary and made a thirty-five minute speech. When I finished and was again seated, the beautiful speaking voice was gone. Again I could scarcely whisper.
