SHERRY TURNS ON THE LIGHT

[Of Special Interest to Children]

Do you know what it means to have a short circuit in the electric wiring of your house? It means that there is something wrong with the wiring for the lights. Well, that was what had happened at Sherry's house. She didn't know what that meant when her father first told her about it, but she soon found out that where there is a short circuit there is no electric light.

"Why don't we have it fixed. Daddy?" asked Sherry. Her father explained that since it was evening, all the electricians were at home with their families and he would not ask them to fix the lights until the following morning. Thus it was that Sherry spent her first night without light—that is, without material light, for we shall see that Sherry was blessed with spiritual light. This spiritual light came to her just when she seemed to be in the darkness of fear. The forever appearing of the truth to our consciousness is the spiritual light of Christian Science.

As long as Sherry could remember, her mother had turned on a little light in the hall and a little light in Sherry's room before she kissed her good night. These little lights are called night lights because they are left burning all night. So it was indeed a surprise to Sherry to be put to bed with no night light. In fact, she wasn't sure that she liked it.
