"THY FIRST LOVE"

What brightness dawned in resurrection
And shone in Mary's wondering eyes!
Her heart was thrilled with new affection,
She saw her Lord in life arise.

When these inspiring words from the Christian Science Hymnal (No. 381) are sung during services in a Church of Christ, Scientist, they bring to the thought of the writer remembrance of a picture which was painted on her consciousness during her childhood. This picture was of people whose hearts were "thrilled with new affection," and whose eyes shone with wondering, even as those of Mary must have when she stood at the tomb of Jesus and saw the proof he presented of eternal Life.
