My experience has been blessed...

My experience has been blessed immeasurably by the study and application of the teachings of Christian Science. It was my privilege to attend the Christian Science Sunday School for two years.

After my graduation from high school a way was provided for me to go to Chicago, Illinois, where employment was sought in the business world. This was during the period known as the depression years. One day, after several months of fruitless searching for work, I stayed home and quietly studied the weekly Lesson-Sermon from the Christian Science Quarterly. A reference from "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy (p. 323) under the marginal heading "Need and supply " appeared in the Lesson that week. It reads as follows: "In order to apprehend more, we must put into practice what we already know. We must recollect that Truth is demonstrable when understood, and that good is not understood until demonstrated."

I realized that I was in reality already employed in the business of reflecting God and that I was active in that business right then. The truth that man as an idea of God is always in his rightful place was kept in thought, and I knew that a true desire to serve could not go unfulfilled. In a short time a call was received, and employment with a reputable business firm was offered me. From that day to this there has been no fear or experience of unemployment, although a number of changes in occupation have been made.
