It is with deep gratitude for Christian Science that I write this testimony. As a child I had suffered from a rheumatic ailment which prevented me from taking pleasure in the normal activities of young people.

After attending a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, for only three months, I felt so well that I decided to join the Women's Auxiliary Air Force and did so, passing the preliminary medical test with a rating of A 1. For three years I was stationed in areas where there were no Christian Science churches, but I took with me copies of our two textbooks, the Bible and "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, which I studied in all my spare time.

My first experience of an instantaneous healing came after I bent down to pick up something and found myself unable to rise. At first I was tempted to accept the condition as lumbago, but I realized immediately that if what I had been learning of Christian Science was true, I need not accept the condition at all. Then I remembered a few words from this passage in Science and Health (p. 162): "Christian Science acts as an alterative, neutralizing error with Truth. It changes the secretions, expels humors, dissolves tumors, relaxes rigid muscles, restores carious bones to soundness." When I realized that Christian Science "relaxes rigid muscles" I stood up completely healed.
