EXCEPT YE BECOME...

He who called a little child
And set him in the midst of men
And told them they must be as mild,
As humble, cautions now as then:

Despise not one of these small ones
Whose angels see the Father's face;
These all are His beloved sons,
One family, of heaven's race.

The Son of man is come to save
That which has strayed, that which is lost;
The sheep alone in mountain cave
Must be returned at any cost.

The master Shepherd of us all
Rejoices over one least lamb,
And none can be beyond recall
Or fail to answer the I AM.
