NO TIMID SOULS

One sometimes hears another called a "timid soul." How wonderful to know that God did not make a timid soul. The dear misguided one, believing he is timid and fearful, endures hours of self-imposed agony, remorse, and self-condemnation. Just why is one timid? Because he believes himself to be an uninteresting, unwanted, misunderstood individual. He is laboring under the false belief of an inferiority complex. Under this mesmeric belief he becomes awkward, critical, and unkind, because his thoughts ever revert to himself, he feels that all others are conscious of him also.

Here is where Christian Science comes to his rescue and proves, without a shadow of doubt, that since God created man in His likeness there is in reality no such thing as a timid, fearful soul. In the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, we find the statement (p. 466), "Soul or Spirit signifies Deity and nothing else." We learn in Christian Science that God is Soul; and, since the Bible admonishes us (Ex. 20:3), "Thou shalt have no other gods before me," we know that we must have no other soul before Him, the one and only Soul.

On page 467 of Science and Health our beloved Leader asks the question, "What are the demands of the Science of Soul?" and answers: "The first demand of this Science is. 'Thou shalt have no other gods before me.' This me is Spirit." Spirit, Soul, our Father-Mother God, governing all harmoniously and bestowing all good upon all, is the one and only Spirit, or Soul.
