OUR HUMAN NEED

The definition of Christ as "the divine manifestation of God, which comes to the flesh to destroy incarnate error," found on page 583 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, is unfolding to those who turn to God for healing, comfort, freedom, and joy.

Each human experience is an opportunity to prove what has been gleaned from the study of the Bible by using the "key" to the Scriptures supplied by Mrs. Eddy. There are times, when there seems to be no solution to a problem, that the heart yearns to be taken out of its present experience and given a new start without distressing accompanying circumstances. At such a time, as well as when the path looks brighter, the student of Christian Science receives refreshment, inspiration, and healing by reviewing the lives of those who have done so much to bring the Christ, Truth, to the human consciousness, thereby enabling mankind to emerge from every form of bondage which besets it. As one seeks, finds, and knows the truth, he sees that he has the great privilege of bringing this truth right where the circumstances seem so difficult to endure.

A student of Christian Science felt she had done all that was possible and she would not again subject herself to unkindness, but rather would go to a quiet place away from the scene of the problem and just study and know the truth. She then asked herself: "Have I done all? Can I turn aside, thinking to remain aloof because this situation seems difficult and my efforts appear to have been in vain? Have I really proved what I know of God and man as long as I feel that unkindness awaits me?" Then into her thought came this panoramic view of those who have done and are doing so much to reveal what is necessary to heal mankind.
