Seeking God's guidance, student finds employment

When I first heard through Christian Science that God does not create disease, I was able to understand this statement to a certain extent, because God is perfect. The textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, was lent to me, but the demands made upon one seemed too strict. It was not until I was near despair because of unemployment, and there was no other way out, that I turned earnestly to this teaching.

When I submitted to divine guidance like a little child and was willing to do all that was required of me, the problem of unemployment was solved. This first demonstration, far-reaching and convincing to me, proved to be complete and permanent.

The second experience I had, which was just as significant to me, was an instantaneous healing of fatigue and pain. I had set out by myself on a day's bicycle trip, and before I had gone a third of the way, I was taken with severe pains in my knee. If I had not known of Christian Science, I should have turned back, for the most difficult part of the journey—the hills—was still before me. I decided, however, to continue my journey and rely solely on Christian Science. But after I had completed two thirds of the trip, my physical strength seemed to be exhausted.
