LIGHTED DWELLINGS

In Egypt, darkness settled on the land.
One, then another plague had come and gone;
And Pharaoh, fearful of the mischief done,
Swayed back and forth, attacked, then held his hand.
Through all the darkness Israel's chosen band
Had light within their homes above the sun.
So step by larger step, their freedom won,
They braved the wilderness at God's command.

Children of Israel, wrestling with false sense,
Caught by thick darkness in a troubled time,
Light in your dwellings is a sure defense.
Let every altar flame with Truth sublime.
So shall God's faithful, set in every land,
Be strong with grace no mortal can withstand.
