Are we like the unbelieving of Nazareth? Or are we turning away from personality and striving to perceive the truth?

JUST RECOGNITION

The thirteenth chapter of Matthew records a significant incident in the ministry of Christ Jesus. It tells of his return to "his own country" after he had begun to do mighty works in his Father's business of healing. Therein is a deep lesson for students of Christian Science.

Jesus returned to his home town. Once again he mingled with those with whom he had lived as a child, a boy, and a young man. Evidently news of his inspired ministry had preceded him, for when he taught in their synagogue, they said: "Whence hath this man this wisdom, and these mighty works? Is not this the carpenter's son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas?"

In response to this attitude toward him Jesus said, "A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house." The Scriptural account concludes with the words, "And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief."
