WELCOME AT BETHLEHEM

The Wisemen came from far to welcome Jesus;
The gifts they brought were rare.
Glad shepherds shouted their exuberance;
Songs filled the prescient air.
The earth was shaken, and old kingdoms trembled;
But every contrite heart
Welcomed him home, this long-awaited Saviour,
Gave him a place apart.

That star of Bethlehem still shines above us.
And all the wise lay down
Rare gifts of gratitude for Truth's appearing,
Thanks for both cross and crown.
Shepherds still feed their flocks with flowing measure
Of healing prayer and song.
From north, east, south, and west the welcome rises
From an awakened throng.
