WHAT GOD COMMANDETH NOT

A Bible writer, many centuries ago, saw that just because some mortal says such and such happenings shall come to pass, this does not mean the things he prophesies shall be. Ponder the words (Lam. 3:37), "Who is he that saith, and it Cometh to pass, when the Lord commandeth it not?"

God cannot be left out of account. What the Maker of us all decrees not shall not be. Can any mortal or organization of mortals in the West, the East, the North, or the South say that aught affecting the world's good shall come to pass when "the Lord commandeth it not"?

Mortals in positions of leadership in certain present-day political and other organizations are prone to prophesy as to the world's future, to proclaim that the human family is all to be brought under the particular form of economic, political, or religious system that such leaders represent. But who indeed is he who says that any form of autocracy is to be the lot of mankind? Has God abdicated? Has the creator's purpose been eclipsed? Can the sovereignty of the universal Mind that is deific Principle be supplanted by power-seeking mortals under any cloak?
