GAINING SPIRITUAL DOMINION

"I will love, if another hates. I will gain a balance on the side of good, my true being." Within this declaration by our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, found in "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 104), is pointed the way to the attainment of that spiritual sense of dominion which Christian Science teaches is inherent in one's true nature, in man's sonship with God, Spirit.

"How can I gain a fuller sense of dominion?" is a question which most steadfast students of Christian Science have asked themselves. And has not the answer always been forthcoming that as we, through study of Christian Science, through prayer and revelation, "gain a balance on the side of good," we become increasingly conscious of the dominion which belongs to man as God's reflection? Spiritual sovereignty is ever tantamount to spiritual understanding.

In the Bible, in both the Old and the New Testament, we find innumerable accounts of those whose spiritual attainments were expressed in marked evidences of dominion. Daniel's great love for God and man enabled him to prove in the den of lions his spiritual dominion over and his immunity from hatred and bestial ferocity, for God "sent his angel" and "shut the lions' mouths."
