In the atmosphere of a happy...

In the atmosphere of a happy home, by precept and example my parents guided my early footsteps. During boyhood I attended an orthodox Sunday School regularly. Today I am grateful for those early blessings.

As a result of the interest shown by some of my relatives in Christian Science, I occasionally visited a Christian Science Sunday School and some church services. One Sunday afternoon, at the age of fifteen, in fulfillment of a strong desire I visited the Sunday School of one of the Manchester churches. Impressed by the fact that most of the pupils in the class were prepared to take some part in the elucidation of the current Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly, I continued to attend and commenced to study the Lesson-Sermons myself. With the assistance of a Sunday School teacher I was healed of boils, and the time soon came when I could prove the simple truths about God and man taught in the class.

One of my feet was pierced by a rusty nail. Immediately the thought that I could suffer was rejected, and to the best of my understanding the truth was declared. Within a few hours I was able to enjoy a prearranged ramble without pain or inconvenience. Encouraged by these experiences, I began to rely upon God more and more. I am grateful for a growing awareness of His continual guidance and protection.
