EVER-AVAILABLE INTELLIGENCE

Only the meekness that recognizes good alone as real can begin to fathom the intelligence that is God. Erudite systems of philosophy and human intellectualism have never disclosed the power of true intelligence which Christian Science brings to light—the force of good that heals the sufferer, comforts the mourner, purifies the sinner, and destroys death. The wise men of every age must pay homage to the lowliest revelation of spiritual good. In my native city a humble Negro, born in slavery, was interviewed by visitors on his one-hundred-and-fourth anniversary. When asked if he was educated, he replied: "Yes, I am educated. I know the difference between right and wrong."

The basic aim of every educational system should be to lead forth, or reveal, the righteousness which alone distinguishes good from evil and to inspire individuals to make goodness and purity the criterion of success. Any educational system develops intelligence only in the degree that it reveals the presence and uses of spiritual good.

Mary Baker Eddy, who discovered Christian Science, has raised the standard of human education by revealing true intelligence as the one good that is God. She has made unlimited intelligence available to all who have the humility to receive it of the Father. In "Science and Health with key to the Scriptures," which, with the Bible, bases her unique educational system, appears this potent definition of intelligence (p. 588): "Substance; self-existent and eternal Mind; that which is never unconscious nor limited."
