Jesus said (John 10:10), "I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." Christian Science is gently leading all who will follow into the more abundant life.

For many years I was a member of an orthodox church, but the way was not very clearly defined and I did not feel satisfied. Indeed, I often wondered whether my prayers were ever heard—God seemed so far away. I had a gloomy disposition and as I grew older developed distressing spells of melancholia, supposed to be inherited. These attacks occurred every few weeks and were accompanied by headaches, indigestion, and extreme weakness. Our physician said that my blood was turning to water and that medicine was of no avail.

"Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy had been in our home for months. I had read parts here and there, only to criticize; then I laid the book away. A friend had many times given me copies of the Christian Science Sentinel, which I read with some interest, particularly the "Selected Articles." The answers to criticisms were direct and logical, and many points which had puzzled me were answered to my complete satisfaction. I did not realize it, but my prejudice toward this Science was gradually fading.
