The omnipotence of God and...

The omnipotence of God and the perfection of His creation have been proved many times in the activities of my family as a whole, and by the members individually.

Two experiences stand out to me as examples of the practicability of Christian Science.

After starting on a short trip. I became ill, and this threatened to turn a happy experience into a painful one. I recalled part of a sentence from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy (p. 304): "This is the doctrine of Christian Science: that divine Love cannot be deprived of its manifestation, or object; that joy cannot be turned into sorrow, for sorrow is not the master of joy." I knew that the law of God is ever active and that this law does not provide for inharmony or pain. Man, as God's image and likeness, is as perfect, whole, and completely at ease as God Himself is. Mrs. Eddy writes (ibid., p. 495): "Allow nothing but His likeness to abide in your thought. Let neither fear nor doubt overshadow your clear sense and calm trust, that the recognition of life harmonious— as Life eternally is—can destroy any painful sense of, or belief in, that which Life is not."
