Prayer

Jesus taught his disciples how to pray. He also pointed out the necessity of faith in prayer and an understanding of its power when he said, "What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them;" and on another occasion, "If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it."

The Apostle James emphasized the power of prayer when he said: "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed."

Christian Science is teaching its students how to pray without wavering, and the answer to their prayers is shown by demonstration—by the fulfillment of Jesus' promise, "And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; ...they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover."
