Why do I love and revere Mrs. Eddy? Because she gave to the world Christian Science, which brings healing, peace, joy, calmness, love, and assurance of life harmonious to all who humbly and faithfully follow her teachings as set forth in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and her other writings.

Early in 1915 my sister became interested in Christian Science and offered it to me but I was satisfied without it, thinking I already knew and revered God. Later in that year we faced a financial loss, and our young daughter was seriously ill. In our deep trouble I realized that I knew not where to find God; therefore I decided to investigate Christian Science. I attended a Sunday morning service, and shall always remember the way the congregation repeated the Lord's Prayer—slowly, sincerely, and impressively. During the service a Christian Science lecture was announced. I eagerly awaited the night it was to be given that I might learn what these people knew of God. For the first time I understood God as good, Life, Truth, and Love. Not thinking of or expecting healing, I found I was healed of serious eye trouble, and I rejoiced.

Our daughter was taken with an attack of dysentery, from which she had suffered all her life. She seemed to be passing on, and in my great despair I wanted Christian Science help. Not knowing a practitioner, I looked in the telephone book, praying I might see a name I had heard mentioned at church. I found the name of a woman I had met. I told her of our troubles and fears. She quieted me with words of Truth, asking us to repeat the words, "God is All," which my husband and I did for a short time. The palor of death was on our little one, but we went on, never doubting. Then the eyes became normal, color returned to her cheeks, and she sat up and said she was hungry. I was very fearful. Her father said. "Let her get up." She arose, walked, ate, and was completely healed. That was the last of that trouble.
