In 1911 I had my first healing in Christian Science. It was then that my brother, who had taken up its study, took me to see a practitioner, thirty miles away.

I was a girl of sixteen at that time, and had been suffering for years from chronic constipation, and also for three years from severe pain and distress, for which I was taking medicine daily, without relief. From that first visit to a practitioner, until now, thirty-one years later, I have never had any return of these troubles.

From that time on, Christian Science meant everything to me. My confidence and trust in its teachings were established. I relied on it for the solution of every problem that came up throughout the years. However, it was not until some ten years ago that a real testing time came. I had had two unhappy experiences, the second one bringing many inharmonious conditions, one of which was a discoloration on my hands. Because of a position I then held, it was necessary for me to have a physical examination, and I was told, mine was a hopeless case. The examining doctor told me I must undergo treatment for at least two years for a bad blood condition. He advised me to go to a hospital at once. At first I took in all the doctor had said, and this seemed to aggravate the symptoms of the disease. I went at once to a Christian Science practitioner and poured out my troubles. Treatment was taken up. Again the loving practitioner's kindness and patience remain a precious memory in my heart.
