Jesus, the Way-shower

"He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father."

So spake Jesus to his disciples at their last supper. Since the day when he had first gathered them together and aroused their wonder in his divine power, he had promised that they should see still "greater works." First, in private, to Nathanael coming from beneath the shade of a fig tree, and later, publicly, to those Jews who sought to kill him, he had given the same promise. Now, as the Master's great testing time drew nearer, he said that those who believed on him must follow his example and show forth the power of God as he had done, until, like him, they were freed from all materiality and ascended in spiritual oneness to the Father.

What a stupendous thought it is for each one who has gained some small understanding of the Christ, through the teachings of Christian Science, to realize that he can increase this understanding and progress spiritually only by following in the footsteps of Jesus, the Way-shower! On page 37 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mary Baker Eddy asks, "When will Jesus' professed followers learn to emulate him in all his ways and to imitate his mighty works?"
