A Christian Science period in the "Columbia West Coast Church of the Air" series was conducted from Station KIRO, Seattle, Washington, on Sunday morning, August 23, 1942, at eight o'clock (Pacific War Time), by Earl A. Jacobs, a former First Reader in a Christian Science church. This program was given under the auspices of the Committee on Publication for the State of Washington, and had the approval of The Christian Science Board of Directors. The soloist, Melba Abbott Miller, was assisted by O. H. Winther at the organ.

The program opened with Hymn No. 175 in the Christian Science Hymnal.

Mr. Jacobs then read selections from the Bible as follows: Psalms 91:1–6, 9–11; 103:2–4; Luke 4:14, 15, 38–40; 7:19, 21–23; James 1:16, 17; Romans 12:1, 2; and from the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy: 525:17–29; 230:1–10; 228:27–29; 494:5–9; 315:32–7; 495:14–24; 481:2–5; 227:24–26.
