Messengers of Our Movement

Referring to the first of the Christian Science periodicals to be published, its Founder, Mary Baker Eddy, calls it, on page 262 of "Miscellaneous Writings," "this white-winged messenger, our Journal." Surely that describes our periodicals, bringing, as they do, pure, healing, wise, and true thoughts to men. And every issue of every Christian Science periodical does this.

It is inspiring to think of the mental work, the prayer, and demonstration that go into each periodical. First came our beloved Leader's work and love and wisdom in founding, in guiding and guarding, each one. Supplementing this, is the consecrated work of the editors and the many others serving in The Christian Science Publishing Society who have to do with preparing and circulating the literature, and that of contributors and workers in many lands. What wonder that unnumbered healings have come, and are constantly coming, from reading our periodicals!

By proclaiming the eternal reality of health and love and peace and joy, as these messengers of ours do, they emphatically arouse from stagnation, apathy, stupidity, and satisfaction in matter. They arouse men to know daily that that which is of God, that which has the might and power of Love behind it, is supported by omnipotence and guided by omniscience and must eventually prevail in individual affairs, church affairs, and those of the world.
