Extracts from Reports of Christian Science Committees on Publication

Reprints of articles in The Christian Science Monitor have increased in the larger dailies and also in the smaller weeklies. One editor uses them with such frequency that he requested a two-line credit slug "Christian Science Monitor News Service," in order to facilitate the placing of proper credit, as well as to make it more certain. Approval was secured from Boston and his request was granted.

One activity inaugurated during the year was the "Gems of Thought Service" to the newspapers. When this was made available, your Committee sent letters to all parts of the state carrying the announcement of the availability of this new service. Three acceptances were received This was in a measure disappointing. However, since that first introduction, the acceptances have gradually come in until at present there are twenty-five newspapers receiving this service.

The policy of accepting subscriptions for the Monitor in exchange for advertising has been continued through the year, and it is a pleasure to report that these subscriptions have been more than doubled during this year. The reprints of Monitor articles and editorials have greatly increased.
