Declaring the Truth

When the stranger to Christian Science hears one of its students say, "I declared the truth," he is very likely to ask, as did Pilate. "What is truth?" As Christian Science teaches, that which must be declared is the truth about God and His creation, man and the universe. Such a declaration does not change the immutable truth, but corrects the constant erroneous suggestions of so-called mortal mind. The truth is infinitely varied in its aspects and applications, but its foundational facts are gloriously simple and, with spiritual progress, increasingly demonstrable.

The Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, teaches that God is infinite governing Principle, immutable, invariable, inviolable. It reveals God as divine Love, protective, tender, faithful, and eternal. It shows Him to be Spirit, incorporeal, immaterial, all-pervading, and ever present. It explains that Truth is active, healing, accurate, and practical. It reveals God to be Soul, expressing in man sinless, joyfilled, radiant consciousness. It teaches men to know God as Mind, the only Mind, divine and perfect, reflected in ideas, immortal and harmonious.

Christian Science declares and teaches that man in the likeness of his perfect creator is spiritual, eternal, immortal. It teaches that the true man expresses the qualities of Mind, his great origin, in health, abundance, purity, holiness, and dominion. As Jesus' life so well exemplifies, and as John so well states, "Now are we the sons of God."
