In 1903, the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, together with some Sentinels, was placed in my hands by a relative, and a friend of my father took my parents and me to one of the Chicago churches. In 1904, our younger daughter and I were in dire need of help for diphtheritic sore throats, from which I had suffered periodically for many years. Our two daughters and I took our stand for Christian Science. The younger daughter was healed by my reading to her from Science and Health, and I recovered with the help of a Christian Science practitioner. My husband and daughters had been fearful regarding my condition, but Love prevailed, and on the following day I sat at the dinner table with my family. This was my first and never-to-be-forgotten healing in Christian Science.

Since that time no material remedies have been used. Many kinds of medicine, which I had, were destroyed, and I have relied on Christian Science for healing from all physical ailments.

One of my first healings was that of a neuralgic condition. For many years I had experienced severe headaches from this condition, which could be only temporarily relieved by medical aid. Before I knew of Christian Science I had had three operations for tumor and minor ailments, the last operation necessitating my being in the hospital for eight weeks, but I found complete healing in Christian Science.
