The Lesson

I learned from God how beautiful
The words of Love can be;
Their miracle of bud and bloom,
On lips of men like me,

Who never knew the gentler speech,
Until Truth came my way,

And God breathed in the silence,
And taught me what to say.

Now, nothing shabby, small, or poor,
Need ever dull the shine

That through the beauty of His Word
Can make all speech divine.
