Twelve years ago, while living in a southern town, I came to the conclusion I could make more progress in Christian Science if I lived near The Mother Church. I thereupon disposed of my successful business interests, moved to Boston, and went into business. Within ninety days that business failed, and I found myself penniless and heavily obligated.

For nearly two years thereafter I suffered lack and inactivity, until I also came to myself in "a far country" and remembered that my primary purpose for moving to Boston had been to gain a better understanding of the truth; but I realized that I had made no effort to attain it.

This awakening came as the result of my hearing a Christian Science lecture delivered in The Mother Church. I then earnestly began to study Christian Science and to "seek . . . first the kingdom of God." In a very short time I was led to establish a business of my own without the supposed requisites of capital or experience in that particular line. This business, though started at the height of the depression, has been increasingly successful.
