Had "M. D." wished, he could have found the answer to...

Had "M. D." wished, he could have found the answer to his query in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy.

In the first chapter of Genesis we read, "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them." In the Christian Science textbook we read (p. 517): "The ideal woman corresponds to Life and to Love. In divine Science, we have not as much authority for considering God masculine, as we have for considering Him feminine, for Love imparts the clearest idea of Deity." And on page 332, "Father-Mother is the name for Deity, which indicates His tender relationship to His spiritual creation."

The teachings of Christian Science are based on the Bible, and the healing works which are accomplished are the result of the same Principle which guided Christ Jesus. Your correspondent infers that Christian Science is not Science. The word "science" comes from the Latin word scientia, which means "knowledge." Christian Science is the knowledge of spiritual truth.
