Christian Thinker

In your June issue is a letter in which the writer ridicules a Christian Science church service which he attended in Hollywood.

Your correspondent undoubtedly erred in saying that "the audience was ... with a sterile air of expecting nothing, getting nothing." While I have no comment whatever to make on the writer's having found "no nourishment in the proceedings, no more life than in a soda cracker," yet I feel that he is incorrect in assuming that the rest of the audience was "expecting nothing, getting nothing."

A fact which will be corroborated by any fair-minded observer is that Christian Science church services are quiet, dignified, reverent, and full of life-giving inspiration. It is the assemblage of those who have been comforted, helped, healed, or regenerated in some measure, and who are gathered for prayer and praise to God for these blessings.
