In October, 1934, a friend invited my husband and me to attend the Christian Science church with him, which we gladly did. We were so pleased with the services that we continued going every Sunday and Wednesday. We purchased the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and through the study of this book we began to live closer to God and to know the truth. Blessings were coming to us from all angles, and our needs were so bountifully supplied by relying on God that we no longer needed medicine or doctors.

I have had many healings since taking up the study of Christian Science, for which I am grateful; but the one for which I am most grateful is the healing of a broken collar bone, which I received in an automobile accident. We were on the highway returning home when our car was struck by another. Our car was upset and the side and top completely demolished. All the other occupants were thrown out through the top of the car, but I was pinned in on the side that was lying on the pavement. When I was removed from the wreckage, it was found that I had a badly broken collar bone. My entire right side was covered with cuts and bruises. But I was able immediately to dismiss all fear and to know that God is ever present, and that I was all right. With all these injuries I had no pain.

We were taken quite a distance to a near-by town for first aid; all were taken upstairs to the doctor's office but me. I refused aid because I was relying wholly on God. the doctor came down to the car to treat me, but I still refused. He said infection was liable to set in, as the weather was very hot and we had several miles to drive before reaching home.
