Christian Science is not a new religion, but the pure Christianity taught by Christ Jesus and the outcome of spiritual revelation. Whenever I think of all the blessings which have come to me and to members of my family as a result of Christian Science, I realize that only a life consecrated to the truth and unselfish service could ever repay the debt of gratitude I owe to God, to Mary Baker Eddy, and to loving practitioners.

Like a great many others who were opposed to Christian Science, and are now lovers of the truth, I was very antagonistic and bitter toward its teachings and repeatedly refused the opportunity of being benefited by its healing mission, until five years ago, when I was threatened with a nervous collapse.

Previous to this time, and covering a period of over twenty years, I was a great sufferer from severe headaches, often becoming unconscious and remaining in a semiconscious condition for weeks at a time. This condition seemed to baffle the physicians, and the only remedy they had to offer was the use of narcotics to relieve pain, which, of course, brought only temporary relief. I would become very despondent and discouraged as this condition gripped me and at times rendered me irresponsible in the discharge of my duties, for the intense pain made it difficult for me to think clearly and collectedly.
