In your issue of Monday last there appears an excerpt from the New York Times entitled "Doctor Praises Neurotics" which gives the gist of a speech by Dr. Joseph Collins, one of the founders of the Neurological Institute of New York. He is reported to have said that "Eddyism was put over by a psycho-neurotic."

For him to have described Christian Science as "Eddyism" displayed poor taste, and shows that he knows very little about it, while to class its Discoverer as a psychoneurotic makes it evident that he never came in contact with one who was pre-eminently a woman of exceptionally sound common sense, perspicacity, and freedom from emotionalism. Christian Science is simply Christ Jesus' teachings restored by Mrs. Eddy and put into practice by thousands upon thousands (to repeat Dr. Collins' own words) "not of people of weakened intelligence, not of 'nitwits,' not of those who are not supposed to stand for most in the intellectual areas of the country, but among the very best people."
