Profound gratitude impels me to join in the pæan of praise, voiced in our periodicals, for blessings received through an understanding of the teachings of our Master, Christ Jesus—an understanding made possible through the great work of Mary Baker Eddy. I thank God for her dauntless courage in facing the opposition of the world—a perfect example of unselfed love.

Although I was formerly quite well acquainted with the letter of the Scriptures, and I am grateful for the religious upbringing in a home where family worship was held night and morning, the textbook has opened the Bible for me. No longer am I perplexed with the belief that God permits His children to be afflicted for some inscrutable purpose. I rejoice to know that God is Love and that His will is good.

Our Leader says (Science and Health, p. 66), "Trials are proofs of God's care." On looking back over the last fourteen years and realizing how God has guarded and guided me through many trials, mental, physical, and financial, I give grateful thanks. They have proved to be but a summons to me to become better acquainted with God, and with man's relationship to Him. I have been healed of a sense of separation from loved ones, and can say in sincerity with Paul, "Neither ... principalities, nor powers ... shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
