If I do not drink, and you do not, and other citizens do not, there will be no bootlegging and no liquor. That is the whole thing to me. It is a very easy thing—if we would only stop talking and stop drinking.

I should like to give you one illustration—myself. I want to say that since I became a total abstainer, several years before the war, I have felt a freedom, a happiness, a spirit of liberty, a solidity, and a courage I never had before.
