Signs of the Times

[Editorial in the New Outlook, Toronto, Ontario, Canada]

Each new day is a fresh gift of God's love. He gives us another task to do, something new to know and love. May He consecrate with His presence this New Year's Day as a fresh beginning for us of endeavor and devotion, of love and sacrifice. Men will not soon forget the year that is closing for its strain and stress. May the year that is opening be still more memorable by reason of its seeking for the kingdom and its striving after God.

It is not a return to prosperity that we need most. It is a turning and returning to God. It is not enough for Christ's followers that salaries will be secure and dividends paid. It is enough for the disciple that he be as the Master.
